ELIZABETH BROWN Obituary

Elizabeth Adams Brown, nee Dry, 95, died Sept. 15, 2012 in LaGrange Park. Previously she had resided in Western Springs for 42 years. She is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah A. Brown; her sister, Barbara Snider; and a niece and nephew and their families. Her parents, Rev. Lawrence Dry and Bessie Adams Dry, and her husband of 44 years, William Culp Brown, preceded her in death. Betty graduated from Doane College and earned a Master's from Yale. She was employed at the Newberry Library in Chicago as a Reference Librarian and Research Assistant. In 1949 Betty married William Culp Brown. They moved to Western Springs in 1956 where Betty was active in school and Girl Scout activities. Betty was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church of Western Springs serving in many leadership positions including as a ruling elder. Betty was a 25-year Rush Medical Center volunteer. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at Plymouth Place (315 N. LaGrange Rd., LaGrange Park, IL). A private interment service was held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Western Springs, 5250 Wolf Road, Western Springs, IL 60558.
