Eugene "Gene" Vincent Kurowski, beloved husband and cherished father, age 90, of Gainesville, Georgia formerly of South Holland and Chicago IL, passed away Thursday July 16, 2015 following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Gene was born September 20, 1924, the only child of the late Vincent and Victoria Kurowski. He served his country during WWII as a Navy Corpman landing with the Marines on Iwo Jima. He was present when the United States flag was raised. He retired in 1981 after 31 years of employment with Commonwealth Edison also representing his fellow workers as a union steward. Gene is survived by his wife of 68 years Irene Burak Kurowski, daughter Christine Foh, (Stephen) of Chicago and daughter Ann Marie Hynes (the late Frank) of Gainesville, GA. A short memorial service to be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice IL, at 11:00 am, October 12, 2015, the wedding anniversary of Gene and Irene.
