Obituary Condolences

George P. Kelly (Phil), a retail executive for more than 40 years who lived most recently in Guayaquil, Ecuador and Panama City, Panama, died in Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida on April 5. He was 74. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn. He was a graduate of Amherst College and Columbia School of Business. He began a 17-year career at Bloomingdale's in New York while a graduate student at Columbia, rising to senior vice president. He was chairman of Marshall Field's Chicago Division, president and CEO of J.W. Robinson's, in California, and president and CEO of Garfinckel's, Washington, D.C. As an international consultant, he was most recently president of privately held Almacenes De Prati, headquartered in Guayaquil, Ecuador. An enthusiastic patron of the arts, he served on the board of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. A memorial service is being planned for later this spring, in Providence, R.I.
