ISAMU SAKAI Obituary

Isamu "Sam" Sakai. Sam, age 90, died on June 15, 2010. Born on June 8, 1920 in Portland, Oregon, Sam was raised in Kyushu, Japan. He returned to America as a teenager, and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Sam was a devoted White Sox fan and a Chicago businessman, owner of the Hot-N-Tot Barbeque Restaurant and later of the Mark Twain Jewelry Store. Sam was the beloved husband of 64 years to Machiko. He was the loving father of Harry (Sharon Kilkenny), Peggy (the late Mike) Waters, and Janet (Rich) Pultorak. He was the cherished grandfather of Susan (Mike) Stonequist and Cyndi (Matt) Ozimek and the proud great-grandfather of Brendan, Jonathan, Connor, Nicholas, and Abigail. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bunji and Tsuru, and his brother, Fumio, of Japan. Visitation is Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 10 a.m., with the memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at the Buddhist Temple of Chicago, 1151 W. Leland Ave., Chicago, 773-334-4661. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the JASC, 4427 N. Clark St., Chicago or Seasons Hospice, 621 Plainfield Rd. Suite 201, Willowbrook, IL 60527

Im going to miss you Great-Grandpa. You were always so nice and I loved to go over to your house and watch baseball or just visit with you. I also loved when you came to my house and we played outside. Love you!
