Jack B. Susarrey, 97, of Downers Grove, formerly of Western Springs. Beloved husband of the late Joan, nee Barabas. Loving father of Judy (Gary) Montgomery, James E. and the late Jack S. Susarrey. Grandfather of Jill, Jody and Julie, Great-grandfather of David. Brother of the late Frank and late Ernest. Memorial visitation 10am until 1 pm Saturday at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301-75 Street, Downers Grove. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to "Oak Trace Scholarship Fund" for the benefit of hourly employees of Oak Trace, 200 Village Drive, Downers Grove, IL 60516. Mr. Susarrey was a manufacturer's representative for several steel tubing companies over a 50 year period before retiring at age 85. Among other activities, he was part of a club that raced homing pigeons from his backyard in Western Springs. His three young children and his pigeons were featured in a Mickey Mouse Club newsreel on television. In his fifties, he took up flying, eventually building a home on an air strip in the Brookeridge section of Downers Grove.
