James Martin (Jim) Tilden, 61, of Western Springs, passed away on Oct. 3 after a tough battle with lung cancer. Born Nov. 17, 1950 to the late Averill Baylies and Elizabeth Pomeroy Tilden, he was a former Village of Western Springs trustee, and was named the village's "Man of the Year" in 1999. Jim served All Saints Episcopal Church on the vestry, as junior and senior warden, and for the last several years as treasurer. He is survived by his children Christine (Michael) Witt, Janet (Steven) Watt, and Michael; three grandchildren; brothers Ed (Mary), Rip (Beth), and Tom (Janet). His wife Virginia Shelly preceded him in death. Funeral and interment at All Saints Episcopal Church, 4370 Woodland Ave., Western Springs, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m., followed by a celebration party in the parish hall.
