Mr. Malles was my 7th grade teacher at RAVENSWOOD Elementary in 1960.......I never forgot him......he always told me "Perseverence Wins!". I never forgot that and went on to become an engineer. He was an amazing teacher and definitely had an impact on my life. He will be missed indeed. RIP Mr. Malles.....

I always get homesick during the holidays and my memories of "home" always include wonderful, silly, fun, and poignant memories of Medill Elementary School. I attended Medill Upper Grade Center from 4th thru 8th grade, graduating in 1974. I was a shy, nerdy, but brainy little girl who loved learning and Mr. Malles, along with his wonderful staff, was always in my corner encouraging all students to reach for the stars. I remember him standing outside of the school ringing that school bell and welcoming us to school. I remember some of the older students rolling their eyes when he'd say nerdy things like, "Boys and Girls, our motto this summer will be T.C.B.--Do you know what that means?" When we'd confidently yell, "Takin' Care of Business"!" "He'd smile and yell back, "Yes boys and girls, but it also means, To Come Back!---cause that's what we want YOU to do!"But it always made me smile. Thank you for your dedication Dr. Malles! "Medill. Joseph Medill School. We all LOVE you!!!" (Smile)

Uncle Jimmy you were so kind to my children and me. You were always there to help us or
someone else. My children were able to attend
New Trier East because of you. Rest in Peace
dear man you deserve it. Marilyn Y Malles

James will be missed! I enjoyed working with him on his books. He loved creating learning tools for schools and children. His creativity knew no bounds!

I was a friend of James who worked for him once in awhile doing some landscaping and I am so hurt by his passing. About all I can say is if you knew of him then you did not really know him you needed to meet him in person and get to really know him he was an awsome man. RIP JAMES MALLES.
