Lee F. Block, 88, of Michigan City, IN, formerly of Chicago, passed away March 1, 2014. He is survived and beloved by his wife Susan of 41 years, his daughters Barbara Price (Ken) and Joan Block and grandson Benjamin Price (Kendra). He was cherished uncle to David Tobey (Miriam), Bruce Tobey (Lynda), Ellen Holmes (Len), Roberta Gertz (Bruce), Jennifer Garti (Jason), Joanna Skolnick (Jordon) and David Feinberg (Michelle). Lee remains vibrant in the hearts of uncountable friends and family members who were uniquely treasured by him. He expressed his love, affection and support widely, all of which was returned to him bountifully. Lee served his country in the U.S. Air Force, then achieving a B.A./M.A. from U. of Pittsburgh. In his distinguished career he was considered the "father" of health care marketing. His authored books are widely used as texts. Acknowledged for his innovative strategies with multiple industry honors and awards, he was the first national public relations director of Blue Cross Association and later affiliated with Michael Reese Medical Center and the American Hospital Association and founder of Lee F. Block & Partners, a consulting firm. At retirement, he taught English at Purdue North Central and was a l,000-hour volunteer at St. Anthony's Hospital. A celebration of his life is planned.
