Leonard Schoepp Obituary
God took his servant home on Monday, January 13, 2014. He was 81 years old. Len was born in Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada. He was the ninth of twelve children. He graduated from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, IL. He received his MA from Humboldt State Univ. in California, and his PhD from the Univ. of Iowa. Len taught Studio Art, and Art Education, at Concordia University, Chicago in River Forest, IL. Len retired in 1997 after 33 years of teaching. A well known potter, Len carried his love of ceramics into his retirement. Len is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carla, children Deborah (Gary), Scott (Julie), and Cameron (Terri), and grandchildren Alec, Nicole, Nathan, Joey, Tim and August. He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be sent in Leonard's name to his Art Scholarship at Concordia University, Chicago or to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Melrose Park, Il. where he was an active member. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 17 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Ferguson Art Gallery in Kretzmann Hall on the campus of Concordia University Chicago, 7400 Augusta St., River Forest, IL. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1025 W. Lake St., Melrose Park, IL on Saturday, January 18 at 11:00 am.
