Major Harry Litherland, age 83, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin formerly of South Chicago Heights, Illinois was Promoted to Glory on March 24, 2015. Harry was born on March 13, 1932 in Momence, IL, son of the late LeRoy and Hazel (Wheeler) Litherland. On June 22, 1957 he married the former Shirley Malek in Chicago Heights, IL. Harry and his wife Shirley were officers in The Salvation Army for 37 years. Survivors include his wife: Shirley, five children and their spouses: Julie (Tom) McDowell, Cathy (Mike) Himes, Mark Litherland, Emilee Litherland and Timothy (Wendy) Litherland; eight grandchildren: Katie, Austin and Damon Himes, Erin (Mike) Hudgens, Elizabeth (Spencer) Chapin, Emilee McDowell, Eden McDowell and Grace Litherland; one great granddaughter: Imogen Chapin; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Donna Litherland and Merry (Martin) Venn; and one sister-in-law: Gloria Carrizales. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by one grandchild; one sister: Elenora Litherland; and one brother-in-law: David Carrizales. Visitation Monday, March 30, 2015 at Steger Memorial Chapel 3045 Chicago Rd Steger, IL from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Oakridge Glen Oaks Cemetery - Hillside, IL.

He was a great Uncle. Had some of the goofeist jokes. I was thankful to spend my summer vacations with Uncle Harry and Aunt Shirley snd all the kids. Will miss you very much.
