A former student of mine, I remember her smile...her gathering of friends... Understanding that things happen which we may not be able to account for now...we appreciate all we had and all whose lives touch our own daily.

I remember Marija as a young girl, and I'm so sorry to learn of her passing. I know that she was very much loved, and loved her family and friends. My family sends deep condolences and all of our love to her family.

Marija and I worked together for about 1 year during college downtown. She brought the sunlight into the office each morning with a smile. May God bless Marija's soul and may she rest in peace.

Marija was one of the happiest, kindest, and most open people I have ever known, and I'll never forget her. From when we were kids dancing the kolo at Croatian weddings to her radiant face as she introduced Cory to me at her wedding shower, her effervescence never waned. It was impossible not to love her. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree -- her whole family is great. I am so very saddened for Cory the love of her life, her beautiful children, her mother, Phil and Angela, and all of her friends and family. I don't know why this happened, but I know that the world is a better place, because she was here.

Draga nasa Mary, Cory, Olivija, Nigel, Phil, tesko je shvatiti bol koja vas je zadesila. Previse je tuge u nama a premalo rijeci da bismo vam rekli koliko suosjecamo. Molimo dragog Boga da vam da snage da uzmognete nositi svoju bol.
Draga Mary, slomljeno ti je krilo ali moras nastaviti let zbog tvoja dva predivna andjela. Neka Bog nagradi miloscu Njenu predivnu dusu.

Cory -
Peter and I were heartbroken and in shock when we found out what happened to Marija. The amount of tears we have shed could not begin to express the grief we feel for you, Olivija and Nigel. I've always enjoyed her company (her wit and her charm) and the warm way she welcomed me into the Lisnic family. I will miss her dearly and wish peace and comfort for you, Olivija, Nigel and her mother.

Although I did not personally know Marija, I felt like I knew her through her mother. I work with Mary and am deeply saddened for your family at the loss of Marija. I always heard so many great, exciting stories about her and your family. Marija touched the lives of everyone she met, including myself, and I was fortunate enough to laugh with her for only a single evening. I was beyond eager to see her again, having realized what an inspirational, brilliant, and charismatic person I'd met.
Cory, Olivija, Nigel, Mary, and Philip, I am so, so sorry for your loss. Cory, you and Marija are a couple I will always remember as being one of the most friendly and sincere. A couple I would have loved to laugh with on so many more occasions. Please know you and your beautiful children are on my mind, and I hope you find comfort in all the beauty around you in this world; the beauty Marija appreciated every day; the beauty that so many others forget to notice.

To have had Marija as a friend over the last 20 years has been a gift. She was loyal, caring, funny, smart and beautiful. Just a special person. To have had her as a friend also means I sit here with a broken heart, not understanding or even believing that this is possible. I literally ache for you Cory, Olivija, Nigel and Mary. But as Cory so eloquently put it, I also feel grateful for having had her in my life. I love you Marija and will miss you terribly.

This loss of my dear friend and colleague Marija has touched me like no other. My heart aches for her family. I cherish everyday more now because of Marija. I will also miss her beautifully written blog. It was like she talked to me each time and I listened with enthusiasm for her words and visions of great taste. Marija searched for a better than usual life for her and her followers and gave it willingly with love.
