I met Mike when he was working in Wilmette at Bank One. I was working there also. He was on the second floor and I was on the first He was always so great to talk too. The biggest smile for everyone..
May he rest in peace.

I reach out from our shared Scott Ave. childhoods to the Pyle family in sadness for your loss and celebration of the good qualities Mike had.......In my childlike memory, when Mike and P.J. walked down the street to the park to work out, it was as if two giants rumbled the earth......I had never seen such large beings!!!!!! And...Mike's warmth was large is such a different way......In my adult years, sometimes when I'd be driving and not lucky enough to be watching the Bears on TV, I'd tune into the radio and hear Mike's solid voice........Sending only warm thoughts to the extended family.......Chuck Lederman

I am truly sorry to hear about Mike passing away. Knew he had been having a lot of physical problems over the years...and had
been going down hill.
Mike and I were both graduates of New Trier
High School in Winnetka..Class of 1957. We both also were church goers at Christ Episcopal Church.
We also had a tie being members of the NewTrier track team. He was a shot puter...I was a hurdler. So many memories.
Rest in peace, Mike. Hang in there Candy..and the whole family. A great friend!!

I met Mike Pyle a couple of times in the 1970s when he was doing the sports award banquet circuit and I was a reporter for suburban newspapers. He was a great guy, a fine writer (he had a part-time gig writing for a Chicago sports magazine), and a true gentleman. I recall at one of these dinners remarking to him that I was disheartened by the outcome of "The Game" (Harvard-Yale) as Yale took it on the chin from Harvard's quarterback, Jay McInerney. Mike, who knew a thing or two about football, said that he was truly an All-American.

Dear Pyles/Allgauers,
I am so, so sad. Every time I think of "Mr. Pyle", I think of my dad. I know they have reunited and are talking football! I will never forget that booming voice and million dollar smile. Please know that I am thinking of you all.
Love,
Maggie
