Obituary Condolences

Patricia Jobe, age 65, passed away on Thursday June 23 from a stroke while a patient at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. A farmer's daughter from Bartow Florida, she fell in love with Chicago and Hyde Park as a graduate student at the University of Chicago. Her passion for Renaissance history led her to study manuscript collections at the Vatican library in Rome and the Newberry library in Chicago where she published articles in scholarly journals. Along life's way, she always took the time to smell the roses and water the orchids. She delighted in the company of her friends in the Garden Fair, U of C Service League, Neighborhood Club, U of C Children's Hospital Committee, and the Blue Gargoyle. While a gentle hostess, remarkable cook, and generous neighbor, she had an inner fierceness that gave her the resolve to pursue her many causes, including the protection of International House and other political pursuits. She especially treasured the architecture of Hyde Park and served as a real estate agent for Century 21 KRM, where she was always happy to place a new owner into their dream home. She is survived by her husband Thomas and her son Will. Send contributions to the University of Chicago Service League. Memorial will be held at a future date.
