 Ronald Harold Kies, 80, of Elmhurst since 1969; beloved husband of Mary E. nee Kersten; fond father of Michael (friend Emily Krettler) and David (Susan); grandfather of Caleb and Raegan Kies and Aubrey Krettler; brother of Harry James Kies and the late Joan M. Johnson; uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was involved with the PADS program and Prison Fellowship Ministry, active at Epiphany Ev. Lutheran Church where he was a ChristCare Small Group Leader and Confirmation Sponsor and a member of the Oak Brook Art League. He was a Navy Veteran serving under the United Nations Flag during the Korean War on the CA-133 USS Toledo. Visitation at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at Epiphany Ev. Lutheran Church, 314 W. Vallette St., Elmhurst from 9:30 a.m. until time of Service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14.
