Theodore Nelson Obituary

Theodore Albert (Ted) Nelson, 86, of Western Springs, passed away in Hinsdale Hospital on Friday, November 9th, 2012. Beloved husband of Kate, dear father to Kathy Mader, Jim Nelson (JoEllen), Tom Nelson (Mindy), grandfather to Brian, Mike, Jason, Jamie, Ashleigh, Kyle, Ben, and Godfather to Diane. He was born November 17, 1925, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, son of Theodore and Hazel Nelson, brother of Hazel Carlson (Wally). He served with his best friend Tom O'Connor in the United States Marine Corps in World War II and earned a BS from Western Illinois University in 1951, an MS from Western Illinois University in 1951, and a Doctorate in Education from Loyola University in 1973. He was a teacher and guidance counselor and served as principal of Tinley Park High School as well as an instructor at Lewis University and Loyola University. He was a loving master of JAK, Max, and Dirk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation, PO Box 130, Hinsdale, IL 60522. Services will be private. "Don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened." SEMPER FIDELIS.
