Virginia Farmer Gordon RN Obituary
Virginia Farmer Gordon, RN, age 84, at rest Sept. 13, 2012, loving wife of Dr. William P. Gordon for 52 years; dear family member to Bill's siblings and their families; devoted mother of Anne Saunders and her husband Stewart; cherished grandmother of Stanley and Clare Saunders; beloved daughter of the late Cyrus Farmer and Mellie Trout Farmer Hodge; dear sister of the late Elizabeth Farmer Crosson. Virginia spent her entire married life in Hinsdale and Burr Ridge. In her younger years she was active in Infant Welfare, the Hinsdale Historical Society, the Medical Distaff at Hinsdale Hospital, Girl Scouts and various volunteer projects at Oak and Hinsdale Central Schools. She greatly enjoyed travel with her husband and family. She has visited all 50 states and over 60 foreign countries. She loved contemporary art, genealogy, opera, outdoor activities such as swimming biking and golf. She was also a long time member of Grace Episcopal Church in Hinsdale. Visitation Sunday, Sept. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Adolf Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ltd., 7000 S. Madison St., Willowbrook. Family and friends will gather on Monday, Sept. 17 for Funeral Service, 10:30 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 120 E. First St., Hinsdale, IL 60521. Following the service there will be a procession to Bronswood Cemetery for Interment. All are invited to return to Grace Church for a luncheon to celebrate Virginia's life.
