William A. Piper, beloved husband of Lois; loving father of Patricia (Michael) Gann and Jan Heckinger; doting grandfather of Jennifer (Matthew) Gann-Dudgeon, Lauren Heckinger, Lendze Gann and Kelly Heckinger; proud great-grandfather of "Scotty" Gann-Dudgeon. Proud member of Civil War Sharp Shooters. Retired after 39 years of dedicated service with Lane Technical High School. Memorial gathering Saturday at 1 p.m. prior to the celebration of life at 2 p.m. at Sax-Tiedmann Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9568 Belmont Ave. Franklin Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Humane Society would be appreciated. For info, please call 847-678-1950.

I remember in grade school (Falconer-Chicago) Bill wore corduroy knickers and big black leather hi-tops, and when he walked you could hear "swoosh-swoosh" from the corduroys.

Dad-
I cannot believe that you are gone.
Words can never say how much I love you.
I will miss your wonderful sense of humor and your positive attitude.
You overcame so many hardships and always kept a smile on your face.
