As the Bankruptcy Judge in South Bend, Indiana, Will was involved in several large cases in our court. I was always impressed by his professionalism, intelligence, and character. It was a shock to learn of his passing, and the profession of law will be the poorer without him. All my sympathy to his family.

I have belatedly learned of Will's death.
I was serving as a Bankruptcy Judge when Will came to practice in Canton, OH. I was immediately impressed with the thoroughness, competence and obvious compassion with which he approached every problem. It was a pleasure to watch his rise in stature in the bankruptcy field and I felt immeasurably honored when he suggested recently that I had been of help to him early in his career.
I am stunned at the loss the legal profession has suffered in his passing. My most sincere condolences to all of his family.

As a bankruptcy judge, I came to know Will as both a scholar of the law and, more importantly, as a gentle man with a great heart, who offered his knowledge and insight, without compensation, to help elderly and disabled people in financial distress. Will won awards for his pro bono work; he won the admiration of everyone who encountered him; and he made the lives of many people better. His goodness will live on long after his passing.

Dear Karen, Shira, Mike, Kinneret and Asher,
My heartfelt condolences to all of you. I was shocked to hear the terrible news about Will.
I was so fortunate to have been with all of you at such happy times in your lives. I clearly recall how proud Will was of his children at each of your occasions. At both Kinneret's Bat Mitzvah when you were new to our community and then Asher's Bar Mitzvah a few years later, your Dad told me how happy he was and how proud he was of both of you. And at Shira and Mike's wedding I remember thinking that he was truly enjoying himself and the smile on his face said it all.
May his memory be a blessing to all of you.
Please know that I am here for you, as part of your Chicago family, if there is something that I can do for you.
With Love,
Joyce Pollakoff

It is difficult to find appropriate words to express my feelings toward Will. He was a man among men, a righter of wrongs, a champion, a leader, a mentor, a friend. No words say it completely enough. Will Kohn was one of the finest men I have ever known. He didn't see race, religion, gender, or station in life as a reason for discrimination. I am so proud to have known him, and will miss him forever. Your loss must be overwhelming and I will keep you all in my prayers. God bless.
