Roberts, David "Tom"
David "Tom" Roberts, 93, a lifelong Lake Forest resident, died April 30, 2009. Retired 40-year owner of the Village Garage in Lake Forest and known for his landscape water color paintings. He was a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, Past President of the Lake County Art League, a member of the Deerpath Art League, a veteran of WWII, life member of the 8th Air Force and 452nd Bomb Group Historical Societies. He was also one of the first Boy Scouts in Troop 46. Husband of Alphonia "Lynne" Roberts (nee Linda); Father of Diane Roberts (Jerry) Gold and Caroline Roberts; grandfather of Erik (Kathy) Gold and Wendy (Petros) Gold; son of the late Peter William Roberts and Annie Roberts (nee Thomas); brother of the late John (Jerry) Roberts; uncle of Mark Roberts and Jack (Wanda) Roberts. Contributions in his name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800, Chicago, IL 60631. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 N. We saw the notice in the Lake Forester on the loss of Tom Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts were neighbors to our parents and we have known your family for a long time.

I'll always have wonderful memories of my grandpa Tom. His artwork has always been an inspiration to me, and it's one of the reasons I became so interested in doing art myself. He always had a great sense of humor too, and I could count on him to tell me the latest joke or one-liner he'd heard. I have fond memories of us swimming in Lake Michigan, going for walks into downtown Lake Forest, stories about the good ole days, and that firm handshake and friendly smile upon greeting him. I'll miss him alot.
