James Summins Obituary
Age 80, of Lockport, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 9, 2014 from complications with Dementia. Born in Chicago, living in Chicago, Bellwood, Berkley and recently in Lockport. Retired in 1998 from X L Screw Corp. after many years of service. James was active in various organizations: Bellwood Boys Baseball, St. Simeon CYO, where he was President and was a basketball coach, Bellwood Lions Club, Berkley Park District Commissioner, Memorial Park Commissioner and President. President of the Chicago Bolt, Nut and Screw Association, St. Patrick High School Alumni and was Eucharistic Minister and active in Generations of Faith at St. Dennis. James loved to travel and play all sports, especially basketball. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran. Preceded in death by his first wife Nancy (Griffin) Summins; his parents Bernard Adam and Rachel Elizabeth (Relling) Summins and a brother Robert Summins. Survived by his loving wife Jean Phelan-Summins; his children John, Jane Diaz-Summins and Mary (Rick) Pancotto; grandchildren Madison Diaz, Katie and Ricky Pancotto; a sister-in-law Patricia Summins; step-children James (Sharon) Phelan, Donna (Scott) Smith and Pam (Daryll) Long and six step-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials to or would be appreciated. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 14, 9:30 am from the O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 1105 E. 9TH ST. (159TH ST.), LOCKPORT to St. Dennis Church, 1214 Hamilton St., Lockport for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
