Valeria Waleski Obituary
Valeria M. Waleski of Goshen, NY died on Friday, February 7, 2014, at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY. She was 91 years old. Her devoted husband of 69 years, Ramon L. Waleski, as well as the rest of her family, were at her side as she passed into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. "Val" was born in Chicago, IL on February 1, 1923. She was raised on the south side of the city, which made her a life-long White Sox fan. She was the daughter of the late Viola and Joseph Smejkal. In addition to her loving husband, Ramon L. Waleski, of Goshen, NY, Val is survived by her sister, Florence Lundy of Oak Lawn, Il; two sons, Raymond Waleski of Rochelle Park, NJ, and Thomas Waleski of Lancaster, PA. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Jane Unhjem, of Goshen, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought her endless joy and opportunities to spoil. They are, respectively, Sharon Stark of Goshen, NY; Gayle Unhjem of New York, NY; Matthew Unhjem of New York, NY; Charles Waleski of Lancaster, PA; and Jason Stark of Goshen, NY. Val was a graduate of Lindblom High School in Chicago and attended Morgan Park Junior College at the University of Chicago. Val was a devout Catholic and a tireless volunteer for her church all of her life. Most notably, she served on the committee that raised the money to build the Church of the Assumption in Emerson, NJ in the 1960s. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Friday, February 21 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY www.ssqfuneralhome.com. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, February 22, at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe, NY.
