Greta Stahl Obituary
Greta R. Stahl, loving wife, mother, sister and aunt, died of natural causes on Sunday, Feb, 16, 2014 at home in Glenview. Greta was born July 29, 1931 in Durban, South Africa, to Elmo and Ione Acton. Greta's father was the pastor of the Durban New Church and later served at the Glenview New Church as pastor and leader of the church school. A lifetime member of Glenview New Church, Greta was educated in Durban, Bryn Athyn, PA and the Glenview New Church. Greta was creative and spiritual soul who loved music and enjoyed playing the piano weekly at the New Church School. She made beautiful floral arrangements, sewed her own clothes, reupholstered furniture and cooked wonderful meals for her family and friends. Greta married Hunter Reynolds on June 20, 1953. From this union were born three sons, Steve, Hunter Kent and James. They later divorced. In the early 1960's, Greta went to work as an office manager at PPC Inc. in Wheeling. Greta married Robert L. Stahl on Feb. 14, 1970. Together they enjoyed golfing at Rolling Green Country Club, traveling to California and Arizona, listening to jazz piano players and visiting with friends and family near and far. A former member of the Rolling Green Ladies golf team, Greta was an avid bridge player who loved a good book, a cocktail and a laugh. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her loving husband, three sons, granddaughter Jamie Reynolds, four stepchildren, eight step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, March 2 at the Glenview New Church, 74 Park Drive, Glenview. Funeral info 847-998-1020.
