Velma M. Murphy, nee Norton, 103, of Lake Forest, Illinois died Thursday, March 6, 2014. Born in Chicago, Illinois, May 14, 1910. Beloved wife of the late Joseph R. Murphy. She was preceded death by her parents Edwin & Marianne Norton, sister, Katherine (Frank) Augustine, brother, Walter (Eleanor) Norton. Survived by Nieces & Nephews Maureen Crowder, Mary Ann (Leonard) Luebking, Gearld (Mary Ann) Norton, Donald Norton, Joyce VanArsdoll and many Great, Great-Great and Great-Great-Great Nieces and Nephews. She was a pioneer with 48 years of service with Illinois Bell. A tireless volunteer of Lake Forest Hospital with 33 years 8 months of service totaling 5,032 hours working in the surgery waiting area and later the visitor's desk. Long- time member and volunteer at St. Patrick's Church. Avid bridge player, friend and counselor to many. She had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. We have lost a wonderful Aunt and friend, but heaven has gained a very special Angel.
