Charles Trunkey Obituary
Charles "Chuck" Edward Trunkey, 84, of Wheaton, IL, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 24, 2014 at The Rosewood of the Cypress of Raleigh. Born September 30, 1929 in Waterloo, IA, he was the son of the late Neil Francis and Nora Bell Trunkey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Maxine Pearson and Marcia McHaney, and nephew Joel Pearson. Chuck is survived by his sons, Adam and his wife Rachel; Christopher and his wife Kelly; grandchildren, Marin, Will, Matthew, and Ryan; nephew, John Pearson and niece Michelle Robinson. Chuck graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1948 and earned his B.S. in Agronomy from Iowa State University in 1952, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He then served his country in the United States Navy for two years and was honorably discharged in 1954. From 1954 to 1958, he served as the Assistant Executive Secretary of the Middle West Improvement Committee in Chicago, IL. And from 1958 to 1987, he held senior management positions at U.S.I. Chemicals Division, of National Distillers and Chemicals Corporation, in New York City and Chicago, IL. He retired in 1987 as Regional Sales Manager, in the Oak Brook, Illinois office and was recognized for his work with a 25 year commendation award by the Chicago Drug and Chemical Association. Chuck was a member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ, along with his family, from 1972 until the time of his death. He was active in The Naperville Men's Glee Club and Aurora Lamp Lighters Chorus. He loved music, singing, volunteering and participating in community activities that impacted people's lives in DuPage County throughout his life. Donations can be made to the Charles Trunkey endowment fund at St. Matthew United Church of Christ. 1420 South Gables Blvd. Wheaton, IL 60189. A Memorial Service will be held on May 17, 2014, at St. Matthew United Church of Christ in Wheaton, IL. Arrangements are by Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC.
