G. Thomas Elliott Obituary
Elliott, Thomas "Tom" Commander, USN (retired), long-time resident of Deerfield, passed away June 20, 2014. Born December 26, 1916, Union Star, MO. Graduated from Union Star Consolidated High School, 1934, enlisted in U.S. Navy. Received fleet appointment to U.S. Naval Academy, graduated 1940. WWII service on USS Enterprise (CV-6), other ships. Retired from USN in 1960. Civilian engineering career with Fansteel, Marathon Electric, John Deere, and Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, IL; retired 1981. Longtime member, lay reader, former warden of St. Gregory's Episcopal Church, Deerfield, IL; former member of Masonic Lodge, Deerfield, IL; longtime member and international President of Steam Automobile Club of America. Survived by devoted children: Jean Elliott (Jeff Weiner); Constance (John) Palermo; Scott Elliott (Cynthia Cheski); Nancy (Christopher) Curtis: by loving grandchildren, Chester and Faith Curtis. Predeceased by beloved wife, Dorothy Fuller Elliott; parents, Charles Scott Elliott and Rachel Adams Elliott; 9 older siblings and their spouses. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with inurnment to follow at St. Gregory's, 815 Wilmot Rd., Deerfield, IL 60015.
