Leroy Adams was born in Parsons, KS, February 7, 1931. Young at heart, Leroy would say of his age that he was 39, 39 times when he passed on Dec 16, 2009. A 21 year Chicago resident, he always made you smile with his humor. A Korean War veteran (corpsman), graduate of University of Kansas (MSW), Psychiatric Social Worker and certified hypnotherapist, Leroy supervised intake for the Nevada State Mental Health Institute and provided crisis intervention. Leroy and his wife Laura co-founded Adams' Enterprises, a garment manufacturing company. In his later years he volunteered with World Relief and Hillside Free Methodist Church to resettle refugees throughout Chicagoland, sharing his home, resources and wisdom with many from all over the world. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Laura Belle Adams; children, most of whom he adopted, Joe Adams and Donna Sue Adams, John (Deirdre) Adams, Rev. Dr. Mark (Kerrie) Adams, Michelle (George) Morales, Christopher (Patricia) Adams, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and two sisters Velma Lane and Grace B. Roche. There are many fathers in this world but not many dads. Leroy was a great dad, living life with him was like going on the best road trip ever, life was always full of little adventures. He was a rascal and a flirt. We thank him for his patience and understanding. He set high standards in life encouraging the family to work at achieving their best. He loved much and asked for little in return. We will miss you Dad. Memorial Services will be held at Hillside Free Methodist Church, 2727 Crawford Ave., Evanston, IL on Monday, December 28, 2009, at 7 p.m. His cremains will be laid to rest in the Adams' family plot at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Parsons, KS in a private ceremony.
