Nancy Louise Tarika nee Ertle, beloved wife of Elio E. Tarika of Naples, Florida, daughter of the late Louis and Mae Ertle of Homewood, Illinois, died Monday, March 15, 2010 of injuries sustained in a pedestrian motor vehicle accident. She is survived by her husband and his children, Jan Sobieraj and her husband, Jerry, Linda Tarika and her husband, Dennis Johnson, and Roger Tarika and his wife Bevo. Nancy was a loving grandmother to seven: Alexandra, Sarah, Christopher and Max Tarika, Stephanie and Jocelyn Sobieraj, and Lily Johnson. She is also survived by her cousins Richard Ertle, Michael, Butch and Bill O'Boyle and their wives. Nancy was a graduate of the University of Arizona and obtained her M.B.A. at Northwestern University. She began her career with Union Carbide as a chemist in research and development. She became the Director of Marketing and Sales in the Films Packaging Division and then the first and only woman President of a Union Carbide Division. She continued as President of Viskase Corporation. She was a former board member of and very active with The Christ Child Society of Naples. She also served on the board of Northwestern Hospital Rehabilitation Institute in Chicago and was very active in many other arts and charitable organizations.
