Gerald was a great friend since my first week in Chicago in 1969. In almost 60 years of playing bridge he was the most skillful partner I ever had. I will miss his corrective interviews at the table, our marathon phone conversations, the lunch/movie dates, but -- most of all -- his keen observations and great wit.

Heartfelt condolences to his whole family.

I remember Gerry from many, many years ago when I too worked at CNA. Those are great memories. Gerry helped me become who I am and, I hope, I had a little influence on his life as well.

Gerald was a brilliant bridge player whom I had the great fortune to play with on many occasions. But he was also funny and thoughtful -- someone who made a point of taking me on dinner on my birthday many years running. I will really miss him and extend my deepest condolences to his whole family.

Sorry for his family. We did enjoy seeing him in Honolulu over the years.
