icon 93, passed on to eternal life Jan. 29 after a valiant fight with pneumonia in The Villages, FL, where he and wife Marguerite (Rita) made their home near daughters Suzanne (Dick) Zimmerman and Kim (Richard) Reynolds. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-greatgrand-children. Born in Chicago, IL, on October 30, 1919, a graduate of Steinmetz High School, WW II U.S. Army veteran, past commander in a Chicago Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter and 2012 Honor Flight honoree, John was a very active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Downers Grove and Christ Church of Oak Brook. After a record 66 yrs. in the corrugated container industry, John retired as Executive Vice President of Pride Container Corp. of the Strive Group. He held several elected offices in the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters, including President of the Chicago region chapter. Eldest of 6 and family patriarch, his was a life well-lived as a man respected, admired, and much loved by all who knew him in private and professional life, having given so much of himself honorably, humbly, yet generously. Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and funeral service will be Saturday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Rago Bros. Funeral Home, 7751 Irving Park Rd., Schiller Park.
