John Giovannoni Obituary
John Ragnar Giovannoni, 45, died of cancer complications January 13, 2013 at home in Palatine. A celebration of John's life will be held Sunday, February 16th from 2:00 -8:00 p.m. at The Music Room in downtown Palatine. Born August 24, 1967, in Chicago, to Arthur J. Giovannoni, Jr. and Nancy (Hanson) Giovannoni. Married Christina Marie Mitchell September 6, 2009 in Palatine. A 1985 graduate of Harvard (IL) High School and a 2002 graduate of Elmhurst College. Co-owned The Music Room in Palatine. There John directed the jazz band, and encouraged youth and adults to share his love of music. He played with the bands Simply Vintage and the Elmhurst Jazz Band. Taught school bands at both Quest Academy and St. Theresa's in Palatine. A member of the National Association of Music Merchants he was a frequent contributor to the monthly magazine. A member of the Downtown Palatine Business Association he emceed the yearly Pet Parade and judged The Battle of the Bands. Surviving are his wife, Chris Mitchell, of Palatine; parents, Arthur and Barbara Giovannoni of Lake Geneva, WI, Nancy (Mike) Hallock of Crossville, TN; grandmother, Angelena Giovannoni of Williams Bay, WI; sister Heidi (Bob) Horchler , nephews Cole and Robert Horchler of Scottsdale, AZ; aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, friends, and students, all of whom were touched by his enthusiasm and sense of humor. His talent was music and his ability to touch people's lives was his gift. The John Giovannoni Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Palatine Bank & Trust, 110 W.
