Heather Rose Kornick, age 25, she was a 5 year survivor of adrenal cancer, whose life was defined by her passions for Jewish learning, youth programing, and giving to all who knew her. Heather was the former Temple Chai's Chai Club programming vice-president, secretary to NFTY-CAR Regional Board, OSRUI camp alumnus, Machon, counselor for Kallah and Gesher, and was a Jewish studies and political science major at Indiana University, graduating in 2009. She was in the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority at Indiana University, serving on the executive board as recruitment vice-president in 2007. Heather received a lifetime honorary membership to NFTY CAR. She was employed as a youth advisor at Temple Chai, and an educator for the Hebrew enrichment class at Congregation BJBE and a preschool teacher at Beth Tikvah Congregation. Heather took great pride in her Team Chemosaurus-Rex, raising over $18,000.00 for the in 2012, and continued fundraising for this come June 15th Relay, personally raising $5000.00. With sincere gratitude, the family wishes to highlight the efforts of Dr. Gary Hammer, Dr. Frank Wardon and Beth at University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center, Ann Arbor, MI and locally Dr. Lisa Purdy and Dr. Chadi Nabhan and the 8th Tower Oncology staff at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. Heather is the beloved daughter of Helen and Philip Kornick; loving sister of Aaron Kornick; treasured granddaughter of Sharlene and Sam Hoffman, Rudy and Lois Zeidler, late Sheldon and Shelly Kornick, and the late Ruth Zeidler; cherished niece of Eddy (Johan Lundqvist) Zeidler, Leon (Jennifer) Zeidler, Martin (Marta) Kornick, and Lisa (Larry)Kaplan; adored cousin of Molly, Max, Maria, Jack and Brandon and special friend to many. Service Friday, 11:00 a.m. a Congregation B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim, 1201 Lake Cook Rd., Deerfield. The service will be live streamed at www.bjbe.org/video. Interment Shalom Memorial Park.
