Marion Osborn Obituary
Marion Marx Osborn of Holmes Beach, FL and Shelby, MI, formerly of Wilmette, IL passed away Tues. May 21, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Larkin Osborn. Marion was born Feb. 13, 1920 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Jeanette Griese and Walter Blume. She was the adopted daughter of August R. Marx. She graduated from Shelby (MI) High School in 1937 and Northwestern University in 1941, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a member of Northwestern's Associate Alumnae Board [secretary (1962-64), second vice-president (1964-66), and president of the board (1966-68)] and was awarded the Northwestern Alumni Association Service Award in 1969. She was a director at large of the Alumni Association (1971-72) and served on her class reunion committee for many years. She remained active in sorority affairs serving as president of the Lambda Chapter House Board and the North Shore Alumnae Association . She was also a long-time member of the University Guild. Marion and Larkin were members of the John Evans Club. Marion was active in several groups in Wilmette including the PTA, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and the Wilmette Women's Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Evanston where she served on the Altar Guild. She was employed at Northwestern University as an assistant to Joseph Miller, Director of Student Affairs and the Waa-Mu program, and, later, she was Assistant Manager of the Athletic Ticket Office. Marion is survived by three children [Rochelle Cain (Louis), David (Linda), and Robert (Jacqueline)], three grandchildren, [Christopher Osborn, Lauren Cain and Kristin Osborn], and two great-grandchildren [Taylor and Emily Osborn].
