I still think often of George -- and Lana. Great people and, as I have stated several times before, George was one of a kind -- a valued friend.

Another year has passed, but the bright light that was (is) George never diminishes. His innumerable friends miss him every day, but especially so on these painful anniversaries.

It is hard to believe that George has been gone for eight years. I so valued George's friendship, encouragement, and advice as we worked together in the late 1980s and early 1990s nurturing a new transportation industry association. His sound counsel was invaluable to me, personally, and to his colleagues as we started our journey. Lana and their extended family are in my prayers today!

Like everyone else that knew him, I miss George, especially at the annual dinners. Lana, we also miss you. Assume you are doing well - hope to see you sometime soon.

It's fair to say I still miss George. I have never deleted a message he left me on my home answering machine. He called to wish me well before the Annual Traffic Club Dinner that he was unable to attend. I feel comfort in still being able to hear his voice of encouragement and friendship. Gone so long now, but never never forgotten. God bless you George.

I only learned of George's passing in the last several days. I regret that I did not know at the time of his death because I would have attended his services. George was a friend, mentor, and sounding board for me in the late 1980s during the formative stages of the organization that eventually became IANA. He was unfailingly available and helpful -- a true friend. That twinkle in his eye and ever-present smile were trademarks of a man of great generosity and kindness. I am grateful to have known George and I will be ever thankful for his support and friendship. God bless you, George.

So very sorry to learn of George's passing. We were close friends in High School and teammates on the dreadful football team as well as in many escapades I haven't had any contact with him since our school days but tried to connect with him on FBI several times without success.

George will be missed be everyone who knew him. He left his mark on our industry and because he was selfless, the world was a better place. George was the ultimate salesman – just ask the numerous senior level executives who could not say “no” to his solicitations for the Traffic Club scholarship fund. When I think of George, I remember his laugh and his smile. Lana, my heart goes out to you because I really do know how you feel. I will simply end with a quote from Lene Marlin - “Heaven is a place nearby, so there's no need to say goodbye.” Love and prayers, Sandra Dearden

George will be sorely missed. He was the light of the transportation industry in Chicago. His friendship and wise council was so valuable to hundreds of us in the industry. I always felt so lucky to call him a friend and a mentor. God speed George. love, Jane Suter
