Margaret Simpson Obituary
Margaret Kleinhuizen Simpson, 92, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at her home at The Mather Place of Wilmette. A long-time resident of both Evanston and Wilmette, Margaret was born in Three Rivers, Michigan and came to the Chicago area in 1939 to attend Northwestern University. An avid cellist since the age of 8, she graduated with Bachelor's degrees in Music and Music Education and taught both privately and in the Northwestern University Preparatory Dept.. In subsequent years she helped develop and supervise the Remedial Reading & Writing Laboratory for Bacon School at Evanston Township High School. Margaret was happily married 53 years to Wilbur Simpson, former 2nd Bassoon with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1946-1991, and enjoyed spending family time at her northern Michigan home as well as traveling the world. She was a loving mother, grandmother, mentor and friend. She is survived by her 2 sons, Michael (Maureen) and Jeffrey (Janney), her daughter, Joan Andler, and 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Marcus and Matthew Simpson, and Kaitlin Andler.
