Obituary Condolences

Edward M. Cohon, age 78 of Rancho Mirage, California and formerly of Highland Park died Sunday, April 6 in Rancho Mirage. Beloved husband of Eva Cohon, nee Hildesheimer. Loving father of Mark Cohon of Jericho, New York and Samantha Cohon of Scottsdale, Arizona. Fond grandfather of Bristol, Sarah and Ezra Cohon of Jericho, New York. He was a graduate of Lane Tech High School and a graduate with High Honors from the Architecture school at the University of Illinois and a member of Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Tau. He was an officer in the United States Army and retired as a Captain from the Illinois National Guard. Edward founded and ran Edward M. Cohon & Associates for almost fifty years. He was a world renowned architect and designed and developed millions of square feet of commercial real estate and was a pioneer in construction architecture. Edward had a blunt but caring sense of humor and was able to reduce matters to their most important facts in a brilliant and unique way. He was an avid collector of modern and contemporary art and an expert in antiques, especially firearms of the Queen Anne period. He was active at Ravinia Festival and Children's Hospital of Chicago Foundation and Children's Miracle Network. His family was his greatest love, interest and accomplishment. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Foundation, attn Kevin Braden, 225 E. Chicago Avenue, Box #4, Chicago, IL 60611 (luriechildrens.org). Service Friday 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Westlawn Cemetery and Mausoleum, 7801 W. Montrose Avenue, Norridge (use east gate entrance) where interment will follow.
