Dr. William H. Bunn, Jr., M.D. of Evanston, IL. Born in Youngstown, Ohio on January 15, 1927 to William Hall Bunn, M.D., founder of the local Heart Association, and Helen Louise Bunn nee Rownd. Graduate of Western Reserve Academy, Hudson, OH. Graduate of Yale University BA in 1949. Completed his Medical Degree at Case Western Reserve University 1953. Served medical internship and residency at New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center in 1954-56. U.S. Navy, World War II Veteran. Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Youngstown Hospital Association in 1967.President of the Ohio State Affiliate of the American Heart Association. Governor and Fellow for the State of Ohio American College of Physicians in 1972. Dr. Bunn 1st Chairman of the Council of Chiefs of Internal Medicine of Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NOUCOM) in 1974. Longstanding Member of the St. John's Episcopal Church, Youngstown, OH, he served in various positions on the church vestry from the late 1950's to 2007. Recipient of the Community Service Award and remained interested in Community development related to the Mahoning Valley. A member of the Appointing Committee for the John and Doris Andrews Charitable Trust from 2001- until Present. Worked with the Wick Neighbors, Inc. to develop the Wick District Redevelopment Plan via the Andrews Trust. Recognized as an outstanding tutor at PBL - Northwestern University Medical School program in 2012. Active member of Northwestern University Osher Lifelong Learning Institute 2007- 2014. Active participant with Habitat for Humanity Waukegan, IL 2017-2014 and Habitat for Humanity Mahoning Chapter, sustaining member 1997-2002, Chapter President Youngstown, OH 2002-2003. Beloved husband of the late Mary "Mike" nee McNab. Beloved father of Jeffrey (Janet), Julia (Ben Hollis), Peter (Pam), William Bruce (Jan), and the late Nancy (Tom) Murnighan. Dearest grandfather of Amanda, Jessica, Matthew, Rebecca, Valerie, Jordan, Benjamin, Ryan, Kevin, and Lisa. Loving brother of Nancy Delaiti and the late Robert Bunn. Memorial Service Saturday, April 25, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Elliot Chapel Westminster Place, 3131 Simpson Street (Golf Road) Evanston, IL 60201. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of William Bunn. I only met him once or twice when he was visiting Julia but he seemed to be a really nice man with a good sense of humor. My condolences to the whole family.

A man well loved by many. I met Dr. Bill briefly through his daughter, Julia and know what joy she held in his being an active part of her life! He touched me with his joy and verve for life in the few times I was blessed to encounter his spirit. His presence will be missed and his spirit will live on in my and other hearts. With love and peace for his dear family and friends.

I was Bill's Recftor in Youngstown, and I was his friend. He is greatly to be missed. Every day I saw him made the day better. He is also a role model for me. I wish him well in his journey.

Bill was the positive, happy reason that I became part of Habitat of Mahoning County, Ohio. In this work, he was always looking forward,with a one step at a time attitude, and with a gracious laugh, enjoying the people around him. He distinguished himself in Habitat and in the wider community, simply by his work and optimistic attitude. The Youngstown, Ohio area lost a respected asset when he moved away. My sympathies to his family.
