I knew Marie from occasional data requests while I worked as an epidemiologist in Chicago's Public Health Department. She was a beacon of top notch expertise, dedication, and professionalism in a setting where those attributes were not always easy to find. I am sorry to learn, belatedly, of her passing.

I know the intensity of missing is great now and it may even feel worse at times. Throw your burdens on God (Matt 6:34) and he will help reduce the pain over time.
