Michael Czaja Obituary
The Honorable Michael F. Czaja, of Chicago, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 after fighting a long battle with lymphoma. Michael loyally served the city of Chicago and Cook county for 50 years as both a lawyer and a judge and is a proud Army Air Force Veteran, having served in WWII South Pacific and the Korean War. Loving father of Chris (Sheri) Chaja and Michelle (Gary) Reynolds. Beloved son of the late John and Josephine Chaja. Fond grandfather of Michael, Jack and Luke Reynolds and Hanna Chaja. Dear brother of John Chaja, Jr., and the late Valetic, Stanley, and Stella. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Family and friends to gather Wednesday, July 26th for memorial visitation 3pm until time of service 7:30pm at DuPage Memorial Chapel. 951 W. Washington St., West Chicago, Illinois 60185. While I never knew the honorable judge, my grandmother Jenny Walenga, nee Kondieus, often spoke very highly of her cousin. While she departed in 1996, I'm quite confident she would want me to express her condolences to the family and to express that Michael was highly respected by his distant relations as well.
