Obituary Condolences

George G. Dickson, 76, died on Sept. 19, 2002 at his home in Long Grove, IL. Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 22 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 647 Dundee Ave., Barrington, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Sept. 23, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 847-381-2323 or www.stmichaelsbarrington.org Mr. Dickson graduated from New Trier High School in 1943 and the University of Illinois in 1949. He served in the Army from 1944 to 1946 and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in 1948 for meritorious achievement in the European Theater in February, 1945. He also served during the Korean War from 1950-1952. He was President of Standard Safety Equipment Company for 20 years and remained active as CEO from 1973 until his death. He served as a member and later as chairman of the Village of Long Grove Plan Commission from 1973-1981 and was President of Village of Long Grove from 1981-1992. For the past eighteen years Mr. Dickson had been the President of the Alpha Zeta Delta education foundation of Chi Psi and had always been an alumni supporter of the fraternity and the young men it serves. Mr. Dickson is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters, Nancy (Jeffrey) Moore of Lake Zurich, Susan (Gerald) Wagner of Ohio, Janet (Peter) Bacher of New Jersey and Sandra Shireman of Lake Zurich; and 10 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
