Worked for Joe in the late 90's. He was a funny and innocent guy - with a great smile. I hope he is resting in peace. Although I am sure he is discontent not being at his store... Miss You Joe.

I worked for Joe for 3 years and cannot imagine a less deserving fate for such a nice guy.

I'll always remember him as a friend, working the register with a big smile and a weird story to share.

Rest in peace, Joe, and happy travels.

Our condolences to Joe's family. We're shocked at the news. Joe was a real postive energy in this not so friendly world we live in. His legacy is the many lives he touched with his smile and upbeat attitude. He will be missed.

Cupcake -
You were taken too soon - I'm happy to know that I knew you for so long, was able to work for you, and will always remember how much you meant to myself and my family. You were such a great freind, offered fatherly advice to someone in need and would do anything for anyone. Your memory will live on forever - and even tho you didn't get to meet my son yet, I know in my heart that during our last visit, your introduction as "Famous Uncle Joe" and the freindly rubs you offered to my "oven", will forever be felt and remembered and some day, we will meet again. Your forever loved Uncle Joe.

I stopped by the Sight and Sound store today and was hoping to maybe crossing paths with Joe, someone I have visited with in his store for over 21 years.

What a beautiful, kind man. Joe always offered a smile, a kind word, and had a few minutes to visit with me.

My heartfelt sympathy to his family. I shared the news of Joe with some old friends this evening and we all shared stories and agreed that Joe touched so many lives in a positive way with his open and friendly demeanor. God bless you during this difficult time.

I worked for Joe 10 years ago and continued to fill in at one of his stores whenever he asked me to up until a few years ago. I am so shocked and saddened by the news. Joe was a good boss, an awesome friend and one of the best father's I've ever met. My heart goes out to his children. I'm so so sorry for your loss.

My heart goes out to all Joe's family. You are all in my prayers. My last memory of 'Joey' is as my best friend Rima's soft-spoken, sweet-natured, curly-headed little brother, with gorgeous, big soulful brown eyes. Joey, say hi to Ritchie for me. He will show you around.

When I handled Joe's father's funeral years ago we became very close. Joe's father was the consul general for the Country of Lebanon that dates back to the 60's. What an education! I will miss him. What a caring father he was to his little boy! Many trips to Ty Park. God Bless you my friend! Your family is in my prayers.

I worked for Joe about 30 years ago. He was like a big brother making me bring my boyfriends around for his approval. What fun working for him with Lenny singing "Roxanne" and joking with Joe and his funny voices. I even worked for his dad one summer doing typing and stamping of documents. He was a hoot! Meeting Kathy and Erica for the first time. Going through his marriage and mine. The birth of his children and mine. Then the changes life brings. Joe was always a smiling, nice guy. I'll remember him fondly forever. Wishing God's comfort to all his family.

My sincere condolences to the family......Only new Joe for a couple of years. Was introduced to him by a long time friend of his. 1st time I met Joe I walked into his store with my (South Side Italians ) Jacket I wear in honor of my dad. The look on his face was priceless.....we talked for an hour....like he knew me all his life. I saw him a couple of weeks ago, he was holding a beatle t shirt for me, that he knew I was looking for (LET IT BE ) After reading this postings, its know secret what kind of guy Joe was......Priceless.

I have known Joe for 20 years. He would always tease me about my Johnny's Hot Dogs fettish, as I would continue to visit him (and usually Johnny's) every time I was in town throughout college and after I moved away and started my own family. It is a shock that is both painful and difficult to accept. He was a kind and decent man interested in passing on happiness and peace to those he met. His business and his smile I literally consider a part of my childhood and teen years. He will be missed. I am physically sick to my stomach but trying to find solace in the knowledge that he's in a better place smiling down affectionately (as always) on all of us who care.

I am shocked and saddened. Joe was my friend. We were all Joe's friends. He was a remarkably kind, simple man who loved his children more than life itself. We always brought out our kids' pictures and competed for bragging rights! I will miss that smile. I pray that rest and peace surround him.

Having worked for Joe for over 4 years and having known him for over 17, I am shocked and feel quite the loss. I am reminded of Jerry Garcia's passing, because when Jerry died many of us congregated around Sight and Sound as Joe helped put together a Memorial for Jerry in Bemis Woods. Joe was that kind of man. Jerry's death was the loss of an Icon, and Joe's death is a loss of a local Icon that no one will soon forget.

Yesterday I was on the phone with another ex-employee and friend and as we chatted about how awful this all was, we started to laugh remembering Joe. And that laughter is exactly how Joe should be remembered. We rehashed so many stories and moments with Joe.

I loved that man. Remembering Joe will always make me smile and laugh because that is who Joe was.

Joe has joined that Great Gig in the Sky and I am sure he is up there telling some lame jokes to the crowds and calling them all Mother Fletchers.
