Talley Jr., Joe - Holly Springs  
HOLLY SPRINGS – Joe Talley Jr., 76, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven. Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Isom Chahpel CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of arrangements. The body will lie in repose from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 3:30 to 4:25 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Taylor, Gale - Starkville  
STARKVILLE – Gale Cummings Taylor passed away peacefully at her home in Starkville on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 3:30 a.m. Gale was the daughter of Cecil and Lucille Cummings and was born on September 24, 1935, in Ecru. She was the granddaughter of James Herbert Windham, M.D., and John William Franklin Cummings, a merchant. She joined the Ecru Baptist Church at the age of 12. She graduated Valedictorian of her class at Ecru High School. She went on to attend Itawamba Community College and the University of Mississippi. Gale married Gerald Tyson Taylor on June 11, 1954. She spent her early years as a housewife and great mother to her four children. She worked at the A.S.C. and Tax Assessor's office. She also worked as a bank teller and at Mississippi State University as a clerk in the cheese office. She has also served as the editor of the Mississippi Holstein News Magazine. Gale was a member of the First Baptist Church of Starkville. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, her Sunday school class and her church. Gale also loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well. She kept her home spotless and really enjoyed flowers and her flower garden. Gale is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald Taylor; one son, Steve G. Taylor (Margaret) of Starkville; and three daughters, Tina Taylor Fawver (Todd) of Wichita, Kan., Tammy Taylor Kilgore (George) of Smyrna, Tenn., and Rita Taylor Willman (Robert) of Aurora, Neb. Grandchildren include Loren Brooke Scarbrough, Josh Taylor (Lynn), Chelsea Taylor, Nathan Fawver and Zach Fawver, as well as three great-grandchildren, Sophie Taylor, Hayes Taylor and Zoey Gordy. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home on Saturday, May 30, 2015. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Thomas, Doris - Pontotoc  
PONTOTOC – Doris Pickens Thomas, 96, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Pontotoc Nursing Home. She was born in Toccopola to Ira Pickens and Ethel Hodges Pickens. She was a graduate of Toccopola School and married Hubert Thomas. She was a founding member of West Heights Baptist Church. She was the retired owner and manager of fabric stores in Pontotoc and Chattanooga, Tenn. She loved growing flowers, especially roses and daylilies which she joyfully shared with others. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at West Heights Baptist Church with Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the West Heights Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her daughter, Billie Jean Sewell, and husband, Dr. Lewis Sewell, and her son, Keith Thomas, and wife, Linda, all of Pontotoc; four grandchildren, David Thomas and wife, Beverly, and Tom Sewell and wife, Melissa, all of Pontotoc, Lauren Ingraham and husband, Jim, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Jeanna Boothe and husband, Leigh, of Madison, Ala.; and six great-grandchildren, Christopher Thomas and wife, Candace, Katie Thomas, Emily Sewell, William Ingraham, Alex Boothe and Andrew Boothe. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Cleo Coggin, Gladys French and Ruth Pickens; and brothers, Halbert, Wail, Curry and Kenneth Pickens. Pallbearers will be David Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Tom Sewell, John Suggs, Phil Lee and Tommy Morton. Visitation will be at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. Todd, Evelyn Nix - Amory  
AMORY – Evelyn Nix Todd, 90, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Dogwood Plantation, New Albany. Born on March 29, 1925, in Oxford, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Iris McAlister Nix. Mrs. Todd was a graduate of Greenwood Springs High School, Class of 1943. On May 30, 1943, she married William Byron Todd. For more than 30 years, Mrs. Todd was a teller and branch manager for Bank of Amory. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Amory. Her life was surrounded by family and friends, especially her wonderful grandchildren. Mrs. Todd enjoyed flowers, decorating and entertaining. An avid bridge player, Mrs. Todd belonged to several bridge clubs, including the ""Sara Lee"" Club. Survivors include her son, William Richard Todd (Jo), Ripley; grandchildren, Jennifer Mauney (Joey), Oxford, and John Todd (Charity), Houston, Texas, and Shelley Cribbs (Tommy), Oxford; great-grandchildren, Max Mauney, Ellie Mauney, Madeline Todd, Elijah Todd, Lily Kate Todd, Thomas Cribbs and Samuel Cribbs; and special friends, the staff at Dogwood Plantation. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Todd. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today, May 26, 2015, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with the Rev. Jimmy Criddle officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Todd, Joey Mauney, Max Mauney, Tommy Cribbs, Archie McKinnis, Dr. Leonard Goodgame Jr., Gary Morgan and Greg Barkley. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour today at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Todd, Wayne - Etta,  
ETTA – Herman Wayne Todd, 71, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at his residence. He was born January 6, 1944, in New Albany to Troy Herman Todd and Delma Richardson Todd. He was a retired truck driver for LMT Trucking. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at United Funeral Service with the Rev. Harvey Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Etta. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Foley Todd; a daughter, Christy Rutledge (Doug); a daughter-in-law, Erica Todd McCall; a sister, Diane Connell (Bobby); two brothers, Ricky Todd (Crystal) and Bobby Todd Jr. (Beverly); three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Wayne Todd Jr.; and three brothers, Sam Todd, Bobby Todd and Steven Todd. Pallbearers will be Billy Davis, Ronnie Rutledge, Keith Brewer, Anthony Brewer, Andrew Scott and Terry Potts.
