Obituary Condolences

NETTLETON – Grover Cleveland ""Bud"" Medley Jr., 87, died Monday, April 28, 2014, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born on June 13, 1926, in York, Ala., to Grover Cleveland Medley Sr. and Myrtle Loden Medley. He was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and a Southern Baptist and attended Central Grove Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served as a private first class in the 25th Infantry Regiment of the 1st Infantry Division during the European Theatre of World War II. He was a former welder, pipe fitter and plumber and a member of the plumber-pipe fitters union and the V.F.W. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and piddling.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with the Rev. Dennis Smithey officiating. Burial will be in Haughton Memorial Park in Amory.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Velma Bishop Medley of Nettleton; one daughter, Susie Medley Hayes of Nettleton; one son, Don Medley of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Helen Hatley (J.D.) and Wren Jackson (Bill), all of Nettleton; one brother, Bobby Medley (Ann) of Estaboga, Ala.; four grandchildren, Stephen Loden Medley, Benjamin Louis Hayes (Tiffany), Mary Katherine Hayes, Landon Janue Andrews; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah Ryleigh Hayes and Mason James Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Paula Medley Andrews; one grandson, George Cleveland Medley; two sisters, Eloise Medley Owens Bishop and Iva Lee Medley Payne; and two brothers, Thomas Wayne Medley and Archie Gene Medley.
Pallbearers will be Keith Bishop, Joe Bishop, Phillip Baulch, Tom Medley, John Medley and Mark Kyle.
Memorials may be made to any veterans organization of the donor's choice.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon until time for services Saturday at the funeral home.
