Brian Hall(1933 - 2013)

BRIAN HALL Brian Hall of Cohasset CA died on Saturday August 10, as a result of emphysema. Brian was born in Santa Cruz, CA on Dec. 16, 1933. At age 6 his parents moved the family to Reno Nevada where he went to school, graduating from Reno High School with the class of 1951. He joined the Navy 1952 and was stationed on the Island of Guam. Having completed his military service he returned to Reno and the University of Nevada and graduated in 1957. While at college he met and married Donna Sorenson. They later moved to Washington, D.C. where he graduated from George Washington University Law School with an LLB degree. He worked for Senator Bible during that time, running an elevator at the Senate Office Building. Brian returned to Reno in 1960 where he was a law clerk for the Supreme Court in Carson City for a year. He then entered private law practice in Reno at the law firm of Barry, Buck & Hall and eventually retired in 1995. Another phase of his life began that year. For the past 13 years Brian has pastored the Cohasset Neighborhood Church with a heart for outreach and a passion for meeting the spiritual and physical needs of others. Brian was an avid skier, traveler, cowboy, hunter, community activist, especially in ministry for the incarcerated, the homeless, youth in need, and crisis pregnancy. When Donna's father, a long time Cohasset and Chico, resident, Donald Sorenson died, leaving timbered property that needed family management, Brian and Donna moved from Reno to Cohasset and took on the job along with their daughters help. He is survived by his wife, Donna, his sister Gayle Graver, three daughters, Terri, Shelly and Kristin and two son-in-laws, Jaime Aranda and Ron Ward. He was a proud grandfather, "Pop" to ten grandchildren: Nolan, Logan, Jesse, Austin, Justine, Jared, Tyler, Ethan, Rachel and Bethany. He also has one great-granddaughter, Payton. A service will be held at the Neighborhood Church in Chico at 2PM on Saturday, Aug. 17. All are welcome to stay after the service for refreshments and visiting. Burial will take place the following day at the Cohasset Cemetery at 1 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cohasset Neighborhood Church, the Women's Resource Center in care of Newton-Bracewell Funeral Homes.
