Jonrandall Lunsford(1983 - 2014)

JONRANDALL LUNSFORD There will be a Celebration of Life for Jonrandall Braxton Lunsford. Jonrandall Braxton Lunsford, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on June 18, 2014 at the age of 31. He was born on January 19, 1983 in Lancaster, CA to Ronald Lunsford of California City, CA and Linda Lunsford of Decaturville, TN. J.R. was raised in the small desert town of California City, CA where he played baseball, basketball and golf. When his health prevented him from a sport he loved he would move to another. When J.R was 11 he had the honor to be the Mojave Mustang's "bat boy." J.R. overcame many obstacles at a very young age, and lived life to the fullest, there was nothing he would not try. On the weekends he enjoyed flying gliders and airplanes. He flew his first solo flight in a glider at age 14 at the California City Airport. As a teenager he worked at the airport packing parachutes with a Master Rigger, and later worked at the Terra Del Sol Golf Course. He graduated from Mojave High School in 2001 with life long friends. He attended Shasta Community College followed by Cal State University Chico. J.R. fell in love with Chico, and it became his home of 8 years. Randall became his Chico name, after he used "Randall" on his nametag for work one day. He began working with while it was a young company with only 60 employees. He was a problem solver, and worked his way to a leadership role as the Director of Operations. He took pride in his work and always aimed to do better. A devoted son, brother, and close friend to many, he was most known by those in his adopted home for his warm smile, contagious laugh, and unwavering caring nature. An artist at listening, he was never judgmental and treasured the fact that so many saw him as a close confidant. He treated everyone as family, and was a true believer that family came before all else. An avid golfer, bowler, gamer, brewer, and dive bar aficionado, he looked forward to trying his hand at any-and-just-about-everything. A "guy's guy" and a "non-guy's guy" alike, Randall was as impressive in the kitchen as he was on the golf course, taking home the titles for best beef jerky and favorite salsa three years running. A champion against heart disease and heart-related illness, he often volunteered at Camp Taylor to help children who suffered from such illnesses. He took solace in showing children they can still have fun and be kids, and their heart defect does not define them. J.R. is survived by his mother Linda Lunsford, father Ronald Lunsford, sister Rawni Lunsford, and many dear friends. Although his time with us was short, he left a lasting impression that none will soon forget. A service will be held in his memory on June 26th at 11:00 am at Neighborhood Church, 2801 Notre Dame Blvd in Chico.
