Kelly Ward White(1946 - 2013)

KELLY WARD WHITE Kelly Ward White, 66, passed away in his sleep on February 3, 2013 in his home in Chico, California. Kelly was born in Seattle, Washington in 1946, son of Jack White and Betty Lee Wilkins White of Beatrice, Nebraska. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1964. In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Becky Ellen Cox. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Nebraska and was a lifelong Cornhuskers fan. While pursuing his doctorate in Biology at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, he discovered a passion for teaching. This led to a lifelong career in education, first as a high school physics and chemistry teacher and, for the last 23 years, as a biology teacher at Butte Community College in Chico, California. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Becky; his daughter, Kathryn Leigh White and daughter-in-law, Melissa Myers, both of San Francisco, California; his brother, Mike White and sister-in-law, Jan White of Lexington, Virginia; his sister, Molly White Benkert and brother-in-law, Dan Benkert of Rapid City, South Dakota; and six nieces and nephews. Kelly was a lover of science, literature, music, bird-watching, cooking, conservation, and golfing. He was a lifelong dog dad as well.
