RICK ROBERTS Rick Roberts, 62, of Chico, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2013, after a long battle with heart disease. Rick was born and raised in Chico, CA. He graduated from Chico High School in 1968. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1971. He began in the security police and then found his passion in survival training. As a survival training instructor, Rick taught many students and even wrote programs. After 20 years of service, Rick retired in 1991 from Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, TX. He spent the next 20 years of his life living and working in the Fort Worth area. He then returned home to Chico for the last year of his life to be with family and friends. He had a passion for classic cars and was an avid Ford lover. He enjoyed the outdoors and the Dallas Cowboys. He shared a lifetime hobby of bowling, participating in many leagues and tournaments. He further educated many children in the sport. Rick was preceded in death by his grandmother; mother and aunt. He is survived by his father; 4 children; 2 sisters and their spouses; nieces and nephews; and 6 grandchildren. A Viewing will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service and wake to follow.
