WALTER ALLEN JASON(1929 - 2012)

WALTER ALLEN JASON Walter Allen Jason entered into rest on November 16, 2012, to join his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy, after only 7 months apart. Walter was born on March 20, 1929, in Lacon Township, Il to James and Ellen Jason. He is survived by 3 of his 15 siblings. He served 2 years in the Army during the Korean war, as an engineer in the 8th engineer battalion from 1951 to 1953. He lived in Tucson, AZ for 13 years, before moving to Chico in 1974. In Chico, he continued his work as a small engine mechanic at Merv's Chainsaw, Butte County Rentals, and retired from the Work Training Center in 2000. Walter will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love of fishing, and good hearty food. He was always fixing something, whether it was the family car or his wheelchair. Walter loved to take his wife for day trips, touring the back roads of Northern California and visiting friends at the Chico Mall. They enjoyed spending time with their family - from family dinners and holidays, to the morning treats with their great grandchildren, Andres and Antonio. Their home was always the family headquarters. Walter Jason was a loving father to Jacqueline (Bill) Coats, Susan (Antonio) Castillo and Alan (Patty) Jason. He was a devoted grandfather, who played an active roll in the daily lives of James, Melonie, Crystal (Rob), Stacy, Diana (Hubert), Mario (Valerie), and Jennifer. He also had 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest grandson, James Coats in 2009. Per his wishes, a graveside service will be held at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.brusiefh.com.
