Walter Donald Hansford Jr.(1925 - 2013)

WALTER DONALD HANSFORD, JR. Walter Donald Hansford, Jr. was a hero to his family, friends, and country. A gentle giant and great man among men, tender hearted, generous, with a ready smile. I will be forever grateful he chose me as his wife. He loved to dance, read , woodworking, and anything electronic. He surprised me often with Joy Lynn candy, flowers, cards and love notes he left around the house for me to find. He served his country as Staff Sergeant and sniper in the Army Infantry, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge, where he received many medals and his first purple heart, and spearheading into Germany, at Ruhr Valley, where he earned his second purple heart. He came home a changed man. Returning to civilian life he worked as a planner and estimator for the Navy in Alameda retiring after 32 years. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans; a 15 yr. volunteer for F.R.H. Auxiliary; served as elder in Lutheran Churches in Bay Area, and Paradise; served as Board Member at Magalia Community Church, and until recently President of the Board at Hope Christian Church of Paradise. A Celebration of his Life will be held at Hope Church, 6933 Pentz Road, Paradise, CA 95969 on Dec. 7th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Christian Church Building Fund or Paradise Hospice in Walter's name. Rose Chapel Mortuary is handling the arrangements
