DEWEY LASH Dewey Eugene Lash was born on October 25, 1923 in Mason City, Nebraska. He was the second oldest of six children born to William and Viola. In 1941 Dewey joined the U.S. Air Force where he worked diligently in communications during World War II. After serving his country proudly for four years he left the military to set out on a new adventure. He moved to Chico, CA and started working at Diamond Match prior to starting a long and successful career at Pacific Bell (now AT&T) as linemen, retiring as a constructions supervisor in the mid 1980's. In the spring of 1945 Dewey attended a St. Patty's Day dance at a local church in Chico where he met the love of his life Lois Marie Rife. You could say it was love at first sight. After two years of courting the two got married on February 20, 1948. They have 3 children: Richard of Chico, CA, Bill of Reno, NV, and Timothy of Chico, CA. Dewey was a proud father. He loved his boys. Together they would fish, hunt, go camping and just enjoy being together as a family. Dewey instilled in his boys a love of God, family and a strong work ethic. After retirement Dewey remained active with the family business Square Deal Mattress Factory. Dewey was well-known among the community. He was an active member of Grace Brethren Church where he served as an elder and a member of New Beginnings church. He was president for the Pioneers. He also was active in the Boy Scouts and served as a troop leader. Dewey truly enjoyed being with family. Dewey and Lois traveled the county throughout his retirement often toting along the grandkids. Dewey went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ on May 8, 2013 at 12:33 am. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. He is survived by his lifelong sweetheart of 65 years Lois Lash, son's and daughter-in-laws: Richard and Delpha, Bill and Rae Jean, Tim and Shirley, and 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
