1921 - 2012 Obituary Condolences

Harold Douglas Graves, 90, of Oroville, died at his home with his wife at his side, on April 11, 2012.

He was born Aug. 13, 1921 in Reed Springs, Stone County, Missouri. He moved to Oroville in the Spring of 1926 and has been a resident here for 86 years. He has worked as a logger and miner and a welder in the Kaiser shipyards in Richman during WWII. He also worked 33 years at the Wyandotte Olive and Growers Plant, Lindsey Olives and Calif. Canners. His position at Wyandotte Olives was Plant Manager and Industrial Engineer and he was always willing to help others with his skills. He also had a 160 acre ranch and grew olives, rice and prunes. He had a busy life and was well known for his mechanical abilities. He also loved hunting, fishing and dancing with his wife and friends.

Harold is survived by his wife of 69 years, Esther; nephews, Bill Graves of Colorado, Ron Graves of Oroville, Cleo "Red" Steele of Redding, Kenny Ray and Kevin Owen, both of Gridley, Monte Graves of Oregon, Rob Graves of Oroville, and Brian Graves of Arizona; niece, Cathy Graves Martin of Oroville, and great-nieces and nephews. Harold is preceded in death by his last brother, William Kenneth Graves who died on Nov. 24, 2011, Thanksgiving Day.

A Visitation will be held at Scheer Memorial Chapel on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will also be held at Scheer on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
